Kindergarten students have been exploring ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ in their writing unit, analysing its colourful narrative and engaging characters to enhance their storytelling skills.

To conclude the unit, they had the exciting opportunity to interact with the new ‘My Very Hungry Caterpillar’ app, which brings the story to life through an immersive augmented reality experience.

KM loved this rich learning experience!

🚶🏼REMINDER: Friday 16 May is Walk Safely to School Day🚶🏼‍♀️

Tomorrow, SJB Freshie is registered for Walk Safely to School Day in support of National Road Safety Week. There are a few ways to join in:

✔ Walk with your child the whole way to school
✔ Encourage them to get off a stop early on the bus
✔ Park the car a few blocks away if you drive

Year 6 Wellbeing will be handing out temporary tattoos to say 'good job!' to everyone who participates 👏

We all have a role to play in helping kids to lead active healthy lives, so make sure you get on board!

Thanks to all our wonderful families who joined us this morning to celebrate Mother’s Day.

It was so nice to take some time out to have a cuppa, enjoy morning tea and most importantly, spend quality time with those we love.

We really do have a special community here at SJB Freshie!

Year 4 students from the Southern Beaches Catholic

Year 4 students from the Southern Beaches Catholic Schools precinct @sjbfreshie @st_kierans_manly_vale and @stcecilias_balgowlah started the week in the best way possible up at @stpaulscollegemanly

It was an excellent opportunity to get to know each other, learn new soccer skills and have fun on a beautiful sunny morning overlooking Sydney Harbour ☀️

It’s part of our new initiative for our Southern Beaches Catholic Schools Precinct, where students spend a morning at St Pauls College every fortnight for the remainder of 2025. This collaboration will involve online and face-to-face experiences, social connections, and academic, sport and creative arts learning opportunities for our Year 4 families.

Term 2’s focus is Sport, and as you can see - the kids just loved it! ⚽

Tomorrow night we are hosting a ThinkUKnow presentation and all parents, carers and teachers are encouraged to attend.

ThinkUKnow Australia is an evidence based education program delivered nationally to prevent online child sexual exploitation.

ThinkUKnow Australia is a partnership between the Australian Federal Police, Microsoft Australia, Datacom and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. The program is delivered in collaboration with policing partners New South Wales Police Force, Northern Territory Police, Queensland Police, South Australia Police, Tasmania Police, Western Australia Police, as well as Neighbourhood Watch Australasia.

The presentation will be delivered by a local law enforcement member and an industry volunteer. The presentation is pro-technology and addresses topics including self-generated child abuse material, online grooming, sexual extortion, and importantly encourages help seeking behaviour.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn more about young people and the online environment, and how you can help them to be safe and responsible users of technology.
